Disney Plus viewers have been left disgusted after binge-watching a ‘sickening’ true crime documentary.
Despite being renowned for its family-friendly content, the streaming platform has seen a significant increase in users as it embraces its other genres.
This includes the intriguing category of true crime, with one new release on the platform shocking viewers.
Discussing it on social media, one person reacted: “It’s hard to believe. There are 4 episodes, and well worth your time.”
Another added: “It’s amazing how someone could have that much time on their hands to pull a stunt like that. It’s unconscionable.”
“This is one of those documentaries that leaves you utterly bewildered that there are some human beings out there like this,” a third shared.
Reacting to this true crime doc and Apple Cider Vinegar, a fourth said: “It’s so sickening.”
The four-part docuseries is a scripted adaptation of a true-crime podcast hosted by Charlie Webster.
Following the viral success of the audio series, ABC News teamed up with Webster and investigative producer Nancy Mosciatello to put it on the small screen.
The doc follows the true story of an American church-going mother of two, Amanda Riley.
From 2012-2016, the now 39-year-old claimed she was battling stage three Hodgkin’s lymphoma and was diagnosed while giving birth to her first son.
Hodgkin lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system, as per the Mayo Clinic.
The lymphatic system is part of the body’s germ-fighting and disease-fighting immune system.
According to the National Centre for Biotechnology Information, the estimated incidence rate is around 2.6 cases per 100,000 people in the U.S.
During the years of Riley’s lies, she kept a blog titled ‘Lymphoma Can Suck It’ where she updated followers on her health.
Hundreds of people stepped forward to encourage and financially support the mother.
Riley used her online presence to share photos of the illness, even going as far as to shave her head to resemble someone having chemotherapy treatment.
According to People, she invited people to donate for her medical expenses, even using fundraisers through the church, restaurants, and other events.
Even though Riley claimed to have terminal cancer and was undergoing treatment, she welcomed a second son in 2014.
After her eight years of deceit, investigator Mosciatello revealed the true extent of her lies.
Riley reportedly stole $105,513.43 from 349 people and entities. However, donations such as cash, checks, gift cards, items, and services are not included in that amount.

The docuseries also includes interviews with those who were close to Riley, including her former friend Lisa Berry and podcast creator Webster.
