The ‘most disturbing horror movie ever’ is so scary it’s banned in multiple countries.
When it comes to deeply unsettling horror films, A Serbian Film is often cited as the gold standard of depravity.
Banned in over 40 countries due to its extreme content, few titles come close to matching its level of controversy and shock.
However, a lesser-known 2012 indie horror movie is now being talked about as potentially even more disturbing – and it’s currently unavailable to watch legally in multiple countries.
On Reddit, user u/summerlungs shared their reaction in the r/horror community: “Maybe even more disturbing than A Serbian Film. Never thought I’d write those words.
“And yet, this movie is fantastic. Here’s why. Unlike A Serbian Film, I think it’s actually a good movie. It’s shocking, but not merely for the sake of shock.”
They went on to explain: “There’s nothing wrong with shock for shock’s sake, but I’ve always been a bit miffed at Serbian Film’s IMO bullsh*t deeper meaning posturing…
“The gore is… intense. I haven’t seen this kind of thing outside of the French extreme horror cinema.”
Horror outlet Bloody Disgusting also praised the film’s impact, stating: “The film’s glut of shock buttons will also linger on the brain long after watching.”
The movie is based on Todd Rigney’s 2004 novel of the same name, which is just as disturbing.
Despite its limited budget, director Scott Schirmer managed to faithfully bring Rigney’s dark vision to life.

The film in question is Found, a low-budget but highly provocative horror that has developed a cult following for its intense and graphic content.
While many horror fans are constantly on the lookout for the next film to rival A Serbian Film, most fail to deliver.
According to some viewers, Found not only matches but surpasses that level of horror.
The plot centers on a young boy who makes a chilling discovery: his older brother is a serial killer.
From there, the film descends into a dark and twisted exploration of family, violence, and psychological trauma.
Due to its content – which includes scenes of extreme gore and sexual violence –Found has faced heavy censorship.
In Australia, the film was initially banned and only released after two minutes of footage were removed.
In the UK, it was allowed to be distributed only after 98 seconds were cut.
For those seeking a horror experience that pushes the envelope, Found might be your next obsession – if you can find a way to watch it.
